So, this is not just another 2-for-1 pattern from yours truly. It’s another 2-for-1 pattern with a whopping eight sizes. EIGHT!! This design debuted last holiday for the Quiltmas Spectacular as a free small block and pillow size with the intention of going full release this year.

Though heavily inspired by the classic holiday movie, Christmas Vacation, I designed the Griswold pattern to make sure it works for all seasons. After all, Christmas trees are evergreen, amirite? I love the holidays and being in a festive spirit but I gotta confess: when it comes to decorations, I find myself gravitating to subtle, less traditional decor. I also prefer to make fewer HSTs and designs that are , I don’t know, a little askew? Thus, the Griswold FOREST design was born!

Colors used: Kona Coral, Salmon, Paprika, Bone

Cozy & Joyful Forest Design in Baby Size
But don’t fret, traditional Christmas decor lovers! I also used the classic reds and greens for this pattern and I’m digging the nostalgic vibes! For this version, I used the Cozy & Joyful collection by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics.

Pure Elements Big Tree Design
I’ve owned these colorful tree ornaments since my college days and was inspired to do a scrappy version, this time for the BIG TREE design! This design option (included in the pattern!) is perfect for those who prefer a quick and easy project and for those who want something big and bold. Yay you!! Clark Griswold would certainly approve!

Colors used: London Red, Raspberry Rose, Mirage Blue, Grapefruit, Emerald, White Linen

This is my first traditional block-based design and it was such a fun pattern to write. Maybe it’s all the weirdness of this year so I can’t believe what I’m about to say: doing the math isn’t so bad anymore! It’s actually kind of fun?! So fun that I stuffed this quilt pattern full of size options!

Fabrics used from left to right:
1) Forest design wall hanging version: Kona Champagne, Curry, Charcoal, Snow
2) Pillow and trivet: Rise collection by Ruby Star Society
3) Forest design wall hanging hack version: Pure Elements Terracotta Tile, Blushing, Northern Waters, Ocean Fog, Georgia Peach, Eucalyptus, Fresh Sage, Potter’s Clay

As the designer, I’m probably not supposed to choose favorites but I’m a grown ass woman and I do what I want lol. The FOREST design is my personal favorite because I love the playful asymmetric rows. It also reminds me of the great outdoors and that delightful time of choosing the perfect tree at a Christmas tree lot. But what I do love about the BIG TREE design is the simplicity and how fast it comes together. We’re talking a quilt top that can be completed in one afternoon, perfect for those who need to churn out some handmade gifts for the holidays!
