New Year, New Plans (2025)
In this 2nd annual goal-sharing blog post, I have another [minor] injury to report. 🤪
A few months ago, we started playing tennis on the weekends, but one early December morning, I woke up with a pain on my left shoulder. I guess that’s just how it is nowadays. You grow up, and as the years go by, you wake up with a brand new ache just from sleeping wrong. I am relieved, however, that unlike last year, the pain originated from actual physical activity. Anyway, I couldn’t cut fabric or repeatedly lift my iron, so I wasn’t able to do any sewing for weeks, including the winter break.😠Long story short, my PT said I have shoulder instability and would need to work on strengthening my shoulder muscles and avoid high-impact activities for the time being. That means I gotta shelve tennis for a bit.
OTHER PAIN ADJUSTMENTS
My time on Instagram decreased dramatically last year, and with that, so did my sales. While the natural solution is to reverse course, I really prefer to be unplugged on most days (in fact, Find My Phone is my most-used app haha). I did notice that being absent for long stretches made catching up to my pals and the online quilting community unmanageable, so I think I’ll pop my head on Instagram more frequently, but in smaller increments.
ON THE HORIZON
This year, I’m gearing up to make paper patterns available for wholesale distribution, release three new patterns, and publish more video tutorials on YouTube. The first one is a big leap, one in which I’ve been hesitant to pursue for years, but I’ll save that for another post. In the meantime, It’s been a month since the injury and I’m happy that physical therapy is going well and my shoulder mobility is already getting better. I can even use my rotary cutter and sew again! 🥳
